Changing Focus
When this couple’s last child flew the nest they decided to direct some of their new-found energy into entertaining. Moving from birthday parties and pot-lucks to real sit down dinner parties they decided it was time to refresh their dining room. Out went the painted floor cloth and vintage cotton curtains. In came silk draperies, an oriental rug and fresh new paint colors. A touch of period “glam” was added with mercury glass vases and silver candlesticks.
These small changes helped this couple feel positive about the shift into a different stage of adulthood; one where friendships are re-kindled and attention can be lavished upon the grown-ups.
“There is something about this design process that helps people unstick themselves from the past and begin to look ahead.”
