Home Away From Home

Taking Inspiration From A Favorite Object

This condominium was designed for an individual who needed a home away from home.  The inspiration for the space came from the client’s favorite art piece, a rustic colorful urn from his South American background.

As a newly appointed government employee on temporary assignment, he needed a weekday home as a place to relax at the end of his very long days, while maintaining a permanent home in another city.  His requirements for this weekday home included a work space, dining area and a sleeping place for visitors as well as himself.

“Usually my first questions about a client’s space are around how it should function. From this exploration clients can easily become specific about how they would also like the space to feel.”
